Law reporting expands online service

Online indexes integrated with law reports
IWR news desk, Information World Review 09/01/2012

The Incorporated Council of Law Reporting in England and Wales (ICLR) has launched a new online publishing service.
The legal charity, established in 1865, was originally set up by members of the legal profession, to make reports of judicial decisions in superior and appellate courts in England and Wales available at moderate cost. The newly-launched service, developed by systems integrator Catalysts, sees the ICLR’s indexes become available online for the first time and integrated with the law reports.
The service is delivered via an online portal and integrated with an ecommerce application and subscription management service for online, PDF and hard copy products. The final publishing process is automated, with Catalysts providing a hosting and operational support service.
“For the first time the service integrates the law reports and the associated indexes in such a way that makes searching more relevant, easier and significantly faster,” said Catalysts’ managing director, Nigel Phelps.
We are delighted to have launched our online service in response to demand from the legal profession,” added Kevin Laws, secretary of ICLR.
“It has been a complex service to design, given the enormity and detailed nature of the material and the sophisticated search requirements that lawyers require to extract the information they need.”
