Feedback on Freedom of Information Act

Your chance to have a say on freedom legislation
IWR news desk, Information World Review 09/01/2012

The parliamentary Justice Select Committee has launched a call for written evidence towards its post-legislative scrutiny of the Freedom of Information Act.

The Committee, chaired by Sir Alan Beith MP, is specifically seeking evidence on three issues, although respondents are invited to address additional issues:
  • Does the Freedom of Information Act work effectively?
  • What are its respective strengths and weaknesses?
  • Is the Act operating in the way that was intended?
The deadline for submissions is Friday 3 February 2012.
Respondents are asked to submit written evidence in MS Word (no later than 2007) or rich text format, but not PDF, with as little use as possible of colour or logos.
Submissions should be sent by e-mail to justicecommemo@parliament.uk and should include a contact name, telephone number and postal address, as well as making clear who the submission is from.
Respondents are also requested to address the terms of reference and keep submissions in the format of a self-contained memorandum of no more than 3,000 words. Paragraphs should be numbered and the document must include an executive summary.
